Practice-only Tech requirements
Practice-only tech is relaxed from full race technical requirements, but there are still some:
Bike requirements
Motorcycles must be either be under the displacement limits in the Open Mini class as defined in the rulebook or be motards converted from motorcycles not originally sold for street use. For insurance reasons we cannot allow streetbikes or motards sold OEM as dual-sport motorcycles that are not minis.
Oil drain and fill must be safety wired or tight and have a dab of silicone on them to verify they have been addressed.
NO GLYCOL COOLANT. Water and water-wetter type surfactant additives are the only permitted coolants. Silkolene Pro CCA, VP Stay Frosty, or Evans Trackwater are allowed as coolant. No glycol-based coolants of any kind are permitted, including Evans NPG and Engine Ice.
No fluid leaks of any kind
Tires in good condition
Throttle, clutch, and brake controls return at all bar positions
Drive chain in good condition, properly tensioned, and properly lubricated
Mirrors, lights and turn signals removed or completely taped over.
Mini supermotos must have peg sliders and bark busters. Open Mini and Lightweight supermotos must have axle sliders in addition.
Motorcycles without OEM fluid retention or crankcase vents routed to the intake must have carb vent/drain lines (if carbureted) and crankcase vents routed to one or more catch cans totaling at least 6oz capacity.
Gear requirements
NWMM practice gear requirements are pegged to Oregon Lightweight Moto requirements with minor changes (underlined):
Full coverage - No bare skin showing. Textile gear is acceptable but must have CE2 or similar body armor at the knees and elbows.
Back protector
Full face street or motocross style helmet (no half shell helmets, brain buckets, etc.)
Boots that cover the ankle by at least 2".
Gloves must cover hand fully and be of adequate weight and material (leather or heavy textile, no MX gloves)
Helmet (Adults) - Must be rated SNELL 2010 or later, ECE 22.05 or later, or FIM standards.
Helmet (Juniors) - Must be rated Snell CMS 2007, CMR 2007, SFI 24.1 / 2010, or SFI 24.1 / 2013
